D94 — Higher rip and pass limits, extra seeded variants¶
Decision¶
The router's rip limit per connection is 40 and its pass limit 40 (were 8 and 12), and a portfolio may have more than eight variants: --variants N beyond the designed eight adds seeded diversifications (fast bends, jittered order, via and crossing cost cycling, escape plan on every other one, --package-pen 3 on the others)
Alternatives¶
Keep the old limits; or make the extras the default portfolio (not measured on the whole sets)
Reason¶
At 50 M work on the 24 srj19 boards one variant misses, 33 % → 54 % clean; srj19 88.0 % (was 79.5 %) with one variant; quick and mid are byte-identical because their budgets end before the old limits, ctest 253/253. Extra variants gave nothing on one hard srj20 board (24 seeds all 33–40 of 52) but cost nothing when not asked for (doc 16 §10; doc 05 §40)
