D125 — Legalisation may subdivide long tracks

Decision

Legalisation can cut long tracks into pieces so that they bend where a neighbour is too close (--legalize-subdivide MM, LegalizeOptions::subdivide_mm; off by default, no change without it): the vertices a route has cannot resolve a pinch at the middle of a straight track between fixed ends

Alternatives

Moving only existing vertices (D104); a new gridless polish engine (doc 16 F6); a local LP window

Reason

Cutting reuses the Gauss-Seidel projection and keeps the exact check as the safety net; merged back to one segment where the track stayed straight (doc 05 §46); measured: A 10 mm track between fixed pads with a 0.06 mm pinch resolves with a 1 mm cut and not without; real boards: not yet shown to close an open connection (doc 05 §46)
